This beautiful coffee table has been handmade using reclaimed scaffold board from Hoar Cross in Derbyshire, it has a second level underneath where you can hide newspapers, books, remote or the babies toys.

You will see some signs of its previous commercial life as a scaffold board including nail holes, cracks and dents which make each table completely one-off, on this example you can see the reference number 'KM 23832' which has been branded into the wood but this doesn't appear on all tables.

The table can be stained in light oak or warm oak, the use of a wood stain rather than a coloured varnish ensures all of the natural details including the knots and wood grain is bought out of the wood and shown off as much as possible.

A protective layer of clear varnish is then applied which gives it a nice silky shine. I use hairpin legs which are formed from steel and powder coated black giving this rustic country style coffee table a super modern look which wouldn't be out of place in a traditional cottage or a brand new modern luxury apartment in soho.
